<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for checking a door for not visually but automatically determining whether the door is half-shut. <P>SOLUTION: The door checking device is fitted to a door of a car, and comprises an angular velocity sensor 100 to measure the temporal change of the door opening/shutting angle as an angular velocity ω and a processor 250 which analyzes the change of the angular velocity ω as the door is shut, and determines whether the door is half-shut based on the result of analysis.
