PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce quantization error accompanying color transformation processing by using the multi-value dither method. SOLUTION: The color transformation processing combines 2 methods, i.e., 3D-LUT (three dimensional-look up table) processing of 8 bit-10 bit, and the multi-value dither processing of 10 bit-8bit. Keeping a number of bits before and after the color transformation processing at 8 bit excludes effect to other processing sections and prevents increase of the circuit size. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
