PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform color gamut compression desired by an image data creating person. SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus 1 performs the color conversion of image data of an image display apparatus 2 by color gamut compression between the color display 2 having a prescribed color gamut and an image output apparatus 3 having a color gamut different from that of the apparatus 2. The apparatus 1 is provided with an additional data discriminating section 11 for discriminating information for color conversion, information added to the image data, and a color conversion means (5-10) for performing color conversion for the image data on the basis of the information for the color conversion.
