PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tetraarylmethane derivative useful as a functional material used for an electronic photographic photosensitive material, an organic electric field light-generating element, various organic semiconductor elements, etc., and a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This tetraarylmethane derivative is expressed by general formula (1) [wherein, R<SB>1</SB>is a non-substituted or substituted alkyl, or a non-substituted or substituted alkoxy; (n<SB>1</SB>) is 0-4 integer; when n<SB>1</SB>is≥2 integer, R<SB>1</SB>consists of in plurality of the same substituents or in plurality of different substituents; and Ar<SB>1</SB>, Ar<SB>2</SB>, Ar<SB>3</SB>, Ar<SB>11</SB>and Ar<SB>22</SB>are the same or different, and are each a non-substituted or substituted aromatic hydrocarbon group].
