PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for profitably producing a (thiophene/phenylene)cooligomer. SOLUTION: This method for producing the (thiophene/phenylene)cooligomer represented by the general formula (3) (R is a 1 to 5C alkyl, a 2 to 5C alkenyl, H or a halogen atom) is characterized by reacting a biphenyl compound represented by the general formula (1) (X1and X2are each a halogen atom) with a 4-(2-thienyl)-1-phenylboronic acid compound represented by the general formula (2) in the presence of a base and a palladium catalyst.
