PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder capable of carrying a recording medium with high carrying precision. SOLUTION: The recorder comprises a mechanism for carrying a recording medium based on a carriage command value and records on a recording medium being carried by the carrying mechanism. When the recording medium is carried, the carriage command value is altered depending on the bending state determined by the type of the recording medium, e.g. the thickness, length, width, material, and the like, and the recording medium is carried by a carriage command value which takes account of an error in the carrying amount caused by bending of the recording medium.
