A bumper strip for a loading platform has an elastic strip (3) held between two u-profile metal strips. Two flange strips (6, 7) are welded to a base plate (8) which is secured to the edge of the loading platform. The flanges are angled outwards and hold an outer U-profile strip (9) with inward angled sides (4, 5) which form a sliding fit over the fixed mounting. The elastic strip is displaced outwards when a vehicle presses against the bumper strip.
