A preform sheet section made of glass, carbon and/or aramide fibre material, contains 0.01-40 Vol% binder. Spirally shaped fibres make up more than 10% of the fibres in the preform. The ratio of sheet thickness to height is greater than 1:5. The material is formed by mixing the fibres with the binder, and the fibres are pretensioned to 0.0001-10000 N/mm2. The binder is activated before the sheet is removed from the mould. A number of sheet sections can be formed simultaneously.
