PURPOSE: A photodiode for an optical pickup is provided to minimize a P-N joining area by reducing an area of layer N receiving a current by making the area circular like light beams, thereby minimizing the intrinsic capacity components generated in layer I. CONSTITUTION: A photodiode for an optical pickup includes layers P and N(20,40) formed on a P-type substrate(10), and layer I(30) joined between the P and N layers for improving reaction speed. Layer N is in the circular shape like light beams, so that the area of layer N is minimized. By the area reduction of layer N, an area in which the intrinsic capacitance is generated is reduced. The intrinsic capacitance components are minimized and the characteristics of the grand band frequency higher than 100MHz are obtained. |
