PURPOSE: A device for inputting an optical fingerprint and a method for discriminating a fingerprint input in the same device are provided to remove an input caused by a residual image by extracting an element for an interactive complementary role in each image being obtained through a blink of an internal light source and discriminating an actual fingerprint input through an optimization of the element. CONSTITUTION: An optical fingerprint input device turns on an internal light source(S10), obtains an image(S12), processes the obtained image, and extracts the first element(S14). The optical fingerprint input device turns off the internal light source(S16), obtains an image(S18), processes the obtained image, extracts the second element, and creates the first counter value by combining the first element with the second element(S20). The optical fingerprint input device turns on an internal light source again(S22), obtains an image(S24), processes the obtained image, extracts the third element, and creates the second counter value by combining the first element with the third element(S26). It is checked whether an input is an actual fingerprint input or a residual image input using the first counter value and the second counter value(S28).
