PURPOSE: An in-plane switched LCD and a method for fabricating the same are provided to improve the light leakage in a blue line of final dots, thereby improving the reliability of the IPS LCDs. CONSTITUTION: An in-plane switched LCD includes a dummy data line(94b) formed in the final window part of final dots except the final data line(94a) adjacent to a liquid crystal implantation holes. The dummy data line is in the zig zag shape like the data line in an active area. If the dummy data line is applied with a DC voltage higher than first and second common electrodes(91b,91c), positive potential wells are formed between the dummy data line and an outermost second common electrode so that '-' ions are accumulated thereto. If the '-' ion impurities are trapped in the potential wells, repulsive forces are generated among the '-' ions so that the '-' ion impurities outside the active area are prevented from being introduced into the active area. In the real driving of the LCD, the '-' ions are induced into the positive potential areas so that the number of ions trapped in a real opening area is reduced, thereby reducing the light leakage of the blue line. |
