PURPOSE: A backlight for an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to easily adjust luminance and save cost. CONSTITUTION: A light guide plate(21) equalizes a white light radiated to a lower glass throughout the entire region. A plurality of discontinuous light emitting elements(22a) are closely allocated from a central portion to an edge portion at both sides or one side of the light guide plate(21). A plurality of the discontinuous light emitting elements(22a) radiate the white light to the light guide plate(21). A plurality of the discontinuous light emitting elements(22a) are formed as LEDs(Light Emitting Diodes)(22). Each of the LEDs(22) simultaneously emits RGB colors and radiates the white light.
