PURPOSE: A human body sensing method of an air conditioner is provided to maximize operation efficiency of the air conditioner by improving the sensing accuracy of human bodies by comparing signal waveforms of supersonic waves received at an initial environment setting step and a human body sensing step and setting environmental conditions. CONSTITUTION: A human body sensing method of an air conditioner having a supersonic wave sensor driven same as a vertically moving louver is composed of steps for setting background conditions by transmitting a supersonic wave for each direction of a space air-conditioned in initially applying power and storing signal waveforms comprising a supersonic wave signal continuously received(S22,S24); transmitting the supersonic wave for each direction to a user's operation order and comparing the signal waveform comprising the supersonic wave signal continuously received with a background signal waveform pre-set at the background setting step for the same direction(S25); and controlling the direction and flow of air to the human bodies by deciding that persons exist if the signal waveforms are different to a compared result(S27).
