PURPOSE: A device and a method for automatically announcing program information are provided to display a confirm screen when any one of programs of each broadcasting channel is started, and to automatically display each broadcasting confirm screen when a TV power is on, thereby automatically informing a user of a start time of a new program. CONSTITUTION: A KBPS decoder(40) decodes KBPS information from inputted video signals to store program information of each broadcasting channel, extracts a current time from the KBPS information, and outputs caption signals for a program whose start time is identical with the current time among programs of each broadcasting channel. A confirm enable unit(60) controls whether the broadcasting program can be confirmed through on/off operations. If the confirm enable unit(60) is on, a TV microcomputer(20) turns on power, and outputs a control signal to the KBPS decoder(40) in order to output the caption signals. A video signal processor(50) mixes the caption signals together, and processes the video signals.
