PURPOSE: A calcium food for the prevention and improvement as well as treatment of osteoporosis is provided which comprises red yeast rice, red ginseng, Acanthopanax Koreanum, Punica granatum L. and safflower seeds of which extracts increase bone density. CONSTITUTION: A composition is prepared by mixing 5-15% of red yeast rice, 5-15% of red ginseng, 40-55% of Acanthopanax Koreanum, 8-15% of Punica granatum L. and 5-10% of safflower seeds, based on the total weight of the composition, adding 5 times of water to the mixture and extracting it at 100 deg.C for 6 hours, filtering the extract with filter paper, concentrating the filtrate under reduced pressure and freeze-drying the concentrate. A calcium food for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis contains the composition.
