A spin drier comprises an external-rotor type motor on the same vertical axis A-A as the drum 5 which is secured to the rotor 3 and which is mounted in a revolving bearing 4 on the axle 1 of the motor stator 2, the stator being resiliently suspended by supporting brackets 11 and springs 12 to the drier housing 10 so that the external rotor acts as a stabilizing gyroscope for the drum. A ring 14 is mounted on the drum concentrically with the axis of rotation of the drum to enhance the stabilizing effect. A brake device 9 comprising a brake magnet and lever with shoes is mounted on the stator 2 in the space between the stator and drum, a cylindrical extension 7 of the rotor forms the brake drum. The extension has projections 8 acting as fan blades which may be extended inwards to support the outer rings of bearings 4. |
