PURPOSE: A control method of a microwave oven is provided to prevent a large popcorn bag from collecting into the corner in a cooking chamber by stopping rotation of a tray before completely extending the popcorn bag and rotating the tray in decreasing the length of the popcorn bag with increasing the volume while popping. CONSTITUTION: A control unit cooks popcorn by rotating a tray on which a popcorn bag is put in selecting the popcorn cooking mode(S602), and detects elapse of the first cooking time after starting the popcorn cooking mode(S606). The tray is stopped by stopping a tray motor in passing the first cooking time(S608), and the elapse of second cooking time is detected while cooking popcorn in stopping rotation of the tray(S610). The tray is rotated again in passing the second cooking time(S612), and electromagnetic waves are transmitted evenly to the popcorn bag with rotating the popcorn bag with the tray. The control unit detects the elapse of the total cooking time in rotating the tray again(S614), and finishes the popcorn cooking mode in passing the total cooking time.
