PURPOSE: A pouring cup control apparatus of casting machine is provided to pour molten metal into a mold by controlling angle of the pouring cup as reciprocating the pouring cup side to side in a certain section with being adjusted to transfer speed of conveyor belt in the casting machine, and a control method of the apparatus is provided. CONSTITUTION: The pouring cup control apparatus of casting machine comprises an encoder(14) which is attached to rotation shaft(16) of a conveyor(1) to sense moving distance of the conveyor; an optical sensor(17) for sensing positions of a mold transferred on the conveyor; a pouring cup carrier(3) into the center of which a male screw formed screw rotation shaft(9) is inserted so that the pouring cup carrier is screw moved back and forth and is capable of sliding on rails; a servo motor(11) which is capable of rotating the screw rotation shaft forward and reversely as accelerating or decelerating speed of the screw rotation shaft of the pouring cup carrier; limit switches 1 to 4 (L/S1 to L/S4) which are installed in the stroke section of the pouring cup carrier to sense starting and finishing of the stroke section and ascent and descent initiation points of the pouring cup(2); and a controller for outputting signals to the servo motor according to input signals of the encoder and optical sensor and rotating the servo motor forward and reversely as accelerating or decelerating the servo motor according to input signals of the limit switches 1 to 4, wherein an electronic clutch(12) for cutting off power of the servo motor is installed between the screw rotation shaft of the pouring cup carrier and the servo motor.
