<p>The protection unit (7a) keeping spray off running components and out of the environment, and the cleaning unit (7b) form a common unit (7). The unit can be moved between a protective- or operational position and a cleaning or servicing position, relative to the coating unit (3). It is swung on, and/or slid along an axis (7f). It is located before and/or after the coating unit. The unit extends over the entire length of the coating equipment (1). It is alternatively shorter and associated only with side edges, at the guidance and drive side of the coating equipment. The protective unit is a closed protective wall, or a grid. It is pivoted at the axis (5f). The cleaning unit is tubular and positioned at each end of the protective unit, opposite the axis. It has numbers of nozzles (7c) projecting high pressure fluid jets (7d) onto components of the coating equipment which are to be cleaned, preferably directed onto the surfaces wetted by coating medium (M).
