PURPOSE: A digital television receiver capable of self-debugging and a method therefor are provided to realize self-debug of a digital television receiver without connecting an extra equipment. CONSTITUTION: If a debug mode is requested, a debug menu is displayed on a picture of a digital television receiver(600-610). It is judged whether a user selects one of the debug menu(620). If the user selects a state window, a state window picture is displayed and a digital television receiver stands by key input(630-632). The corresponding command is executed according to external key input(634). If a command window is selected, a command window picture is displayed and the digital television receiver stands by key input(640-642). The corresponding command is executed according to external key input(644).
