The pad (1) comprises an case (2) containing a substance such as milk powder, creamer or sugar which is dissolvable in a liquid such as water. The case includes an upper sheet of material (6) which is impermeable to the dissolvable substance, e.g. a layer of filter material, and a lower sheet of material (8) which is impermeable to the undissolved substance but permeable to the dissolved substance, e.g. a layer of filter material. A reinforcing part (10) with its top side in contact with the upper sheet and its bottom side in contact with the lower sheet ensures the pad has a dimensionally stable shape. At least some of the dissolvable substance is located inside compartments (16) defined by the two parallel sheets and the walls of a grid structure (14) between these sheets. Liquid is able to flow into the pad from the top side and out of the pad via the bottom side. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) Combination of the pad and a extractable product such as ground coffee; and (2) Method for making a drink by placing pad inside a vessel and adding preferably hot water under pressure to preferably the top side of the vessel and removing the prepared drink from one or more outlets in the bottom side of the vessel. |
