A liquid crystal display device having first and second substrates, a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first and second substrates, and a light shielding layer formed on at least one of the first and the second substrates. A first conductive layer and a second conductive layer are formed on the first substrate, and an orientation film is formed on the first substrate as an upper layer with respect to the first and the second conductive layers. The first conductive layer is nearer to the first substrate than the second conductive layer, and the first conductive layer and the second conductive layer form a crossing in plan view in an open region of the light shielding. A first obtuse angle formed between the first conductive layer and the first substrate is smaller than a second obtuse angle formed between the second conductive layer and the first substrate.
