1,123,314. Jointing by stamping. AMP Inc., 29 Nov., 1966 [30 Dec., 1965], No. 53367/66. Heading B3Q. A crimping tool comprises means to move a die under pressure transmitted by a resilient member collapsible when the pressure exceeds a predetermined value. In an example, crimping dies 8, 9 are moved towards stationary dies 5, 6 by levers 4 pivoted at 24 to a plunger 17, 18 and mounted on the toolcasing 2 by links 26. A pack of frusto-conical spring-washers 22, disposed between the plunger 17 and a further plunger 12, 14 connected to the dies 8, 9, transmits the operating force. A satisfactory crimp is indicated upon collapse of the washers, when the operating levers move more easily. |
