<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a packing which has adequate durability as well as a good property for microorganisms to be deposited on it and is effective in dispersion treatment with microorganisms by using a bulky molded article of water absorbent synthetic fibers as a packing for a biological deodoriznng apparatus. CONSTITUTION:A bulky molded article of water absorbent synthetic fibers is used as a packing for a biological deodorizing apparatus. For example, hydrophobic synthetic fibers such as polyvinylidene chloride fibers are immersed in a coagulation bath of polyvinyl alcohol, etc., to be coated with polyvinyl alcohol. The fibers, after being heat-treated, are converted into water absorbent synthetic fibers by the treatment, which makes the fibers hydrophilic, such as the formation of formal groups. In this way, the fibers have good properties in terms of specific surface area, porosity, etc., and improve in strength against load and resistance against biodegradation and W decomposition due to an acid.</p> |
