PURPOSE: A door switch device for a vehicle and control method thereof are provided to prevent the electric discharge of a battery even while a door is opened for a long time. CONSTITUTION: A door switch device for a vehicle is composed of a door switch(11) switching on/off according to the opening/closing of a door, a current unit(12) grounded/opened according to the operation of the door switch, a power supply unit(13) supplying power to the current unit, and an electronic control unit(15) detecting the opening/closing of the door according to the current of the current unit. A power switch(14) is connected to the current unit, and switches a power supply passage on/off.
