SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR INDIRECTLY MEASURING CUTTING FORCE OF CNC LATHE

PURPOSE: A system and method for indirectly measuring the cutting force of a CNC lathe is provided to indirectly measure the cutting force without changing the structure of the CNC lathe to facilitate the application to a variety of the CNC lathe. CONSTITUTION: A system for indirectly measuring the cutting force of a CNC lathe(10) is composed of signal converters(20,30) for converting motor driving signals from a main shaft motor(15) of the lathe into digital signals and converting the information about the measured cutting force into analog signals to display the information onto a monitor, a signal transmitter for transmitting the motor driving signals, memories(50,55) for storing the motor driving signals detected from the main shaft motor, a controller for generating the information about the measured cutting force by calculating the power factor and the output torque of the motor from the motor driving signals from the main shaft motor.
