PURPOSE: A light emitting spiro dimer and an organic electroluminescence device containing the dimer are provided, to obtain a blue light emitting spiro dimer having excellent luminous efficiency, heat resistance and layer formability. CONSTITUTION: The light emitting spiro dimer is represented by the formula 1, wherein R's are identical or different one another and are H, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group of C1-C10, an aryl group, an alkoxy group, a heteroaryl group, an amine group, an alcohol, an aldehyde or a carboxyl group. The organic electroluminescence device comprises a first electrode having a high work function; a second electrode having a low work function; and at least one organic compound layer which contains the spiro dimer of the formula 1 and is placed between the first electrode and the second electrode. Preferably the organic compound layer is an organic light emitting layer, or a hole transport layer formed between the second electrode and an organic light emitting layer.
