PURPOSE: An apparatus for generating a luminous source in a WDM(Wavelength Division Multiplexing) optical communication system is provided to create a stable light source using a passive element, such as a reflector. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for generating a luminous source in a WDM optical communication system is comprised of a pump laser diode(10), a 3-terminal optical circulator(20), a wavelength division multiplexer/demultiplexer(30), wavelength dependent reflectors(40), optical fiber amplifiers(50), wavelength independent reflectors(60), and modulators(70). The pump laser diode(10), connected to the first terminal of the 3-terminal optical circulator(20), supplies a pumping light to the optical fiber amplifier(50). The pumping light emitted from the pump laser diode(10) is inputted to the multiplexing port of the wavelength division multiplexer/demultiplexer(30), connected to the second terminal of the 3-terminal optical circulator(20), through the first terminal. The wavelength division multiplexer/demultiplexer(30) multiplexes and outputs inputted channels or wavelengths or demultiplexes and outputs inputted optical signals by channels or wavelengths. The pumping light inputted to the multiplexing port of the wavelength division multiplexer/demultiplexer(30) is split and inputted to the wavelength dependent reflectors(41-4N) respectively connected to the demultiplexing ports of the wavelength division multiplexer/demultiplexer(30).
