PURPOSE: A passenger airbag device for a vehicle and control method thereof is provided to prevent a passenger from being injured by the spread of an airbag by preventing the spread of the airbag when an object or the body of the passenger is put on an airbag door. CONSTITUTION: A passenger airbag device for a vehicle is composed of an airbag and an airbag module(30) installed in a crash pad(10), and an airbag door(40) installed at the front of the airbag module. The airbag door includes a crash pad skin(41), a door skin(42), and foam(43) filled into a space between the crash pad skin and the door skin. A pressure sensor(50) is installed at the airbag door, detects the pressure applied to the airbag door from the outside, and transmits a detected signal to an ECU.
