PURPOSE: A hot wire control device and a method of a vehicle are provided to turn off a hot wire after generating same heat capacity all the time even if voltage of a battery supplying power to the hot wire is changed, accordingly to prevent the unnecessary consumption of power, and to make a driver have always same defrosting effects. CONSTITUTION: A hot wire control device is composed of a hot wire(1) mounted to a glass of a vehicle; a voltage measuring unit(3) for measuring voltage applied on the hot wire; and a hot wire control unit(6) for computing the power consumption of the hot wire from voltage measured by the voltage measuring unit, comparing the computed power consumption with a reference power, and thus controlling the turning on/off of the hot wire. The voltage measuring unit includes a resistance(4) coupled with a battery(2) for supplying power to the hot wire and an analog/digital converter(5) for converting voltage applied to the resistance into a digital value and transmitting the digital value to the hot wire control unit.
