PURPOSE: A microwave oven is provided to permit the foodstuff being cooked in the cavity to be rapidly checked from multiple directions, while allowing for ease of installation of heater. CONSTITUTION: A microwave oven comprises a cavity(20) having an open front, wherein the cavity is equipped with a bottom plate(50); and a door(30) for opening/shutting the cavity. The bottom plate is protruded from the front surface of the cavity, and the door is protruded from the cavity in such a manner that the door cooperates with the protruded bottom plate so as to form a cooking space extended from the cavity. The door has a frame(31) which forms a rim, and a transparent member(32) covering the open front of the cavity. The transparent member includes a front plate(33), a top plate(34), and a bottom plate(35). The bottom plate of the cavity has a rear portion(51) disposed at the inside from the front surface of the cavity, and a front portion(52) disposed at the outside from the front surface of the cavity.
