PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal activation system for a thermosensitive self-adhesive sheet for thermally activating the sheet in various patterns according to the use of the sheet and enabling the sheet to exhibit adhesiveness more than a prescribed extent over the whole surface of the sheet, and a printer. SOLUTION: This thermal activation system for the thermosensitive self-adhesive sheet is a heating means for heating and activating an adhesive layer of the thermosensitive adhesive of the thermosensitiveself-sheet composed of a sheet-like base material formed with the adhesive layer on its one face and having a printable surface on the other face. The system is provided with at least a thermal head having a plurality of individually energization controllable heating elements disposed in a row, and an energy controlling means for performing thermal activation treatment by applying once or twice or more times of voltage pulse to a region of the thermal sensitive adhesive sheet that can be thermally activated at a time by the thermal head and energizing the plurality of heating elements. The energy control means can change the heating elements to be energized for each applied voltage pulse when thermally activating the adhesive sheet by applying the voltage pulse in two times or more to the heating elements of the thermal head.
