PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cement admixture having rapid curing properties and an effect of suppressing carbonation, and a cement composition. SOLUTION: The cement admixture consists of non-hydraulicγ-C<SB>2</SB>S (2CaO-SiO<SB>2</SB>ofγtype), and nitrite and/or nitrate. As a result, the cement admixture exhibits the rapid curing properties and the effect of suppressing the carbonation and is suitable for applications where the material is liable to undergo the carbonation because of the need for curing particularly in a short period of time, as a concrete repair material in civil engineering and construction industry.
