PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently handle a data transfer to a recording buffer. SOLUTION: For carrying out recording by scanning a carriage with a loaded recording head over a recording medium, a recording region in a scanning direction of the recording head is divided to a plurality of regions. The recorder having the buffer for storing image data per divided region is provided with a writing control part, a readout control part and a recording data generating part. The writing control part controls for every color data, writing address information of image data per region on the basis of information for switching a storage region of data for every color data and on the basis of the result of comparing a storable remaining amount of the buffer with a writing address updating amount at the time of storing image data per divided region into the buffer. The readout control part controls, every color data, readout address information for reading out image data stored in the buffer, and the recording data generating part generates recording data per divided region in accordance with read-out image data on the basis of the readout address information.
