PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To omit a stirrer to simplify constitution and to always obtain desired disinfection effect in correspondence to the quality of treated water or a change in flow rate. SOLUTION: A disinfection system is equipped with an ultraviolet disinfection apparatus 1, which is equipped with a flowmeter 22a for measuring the flow rate of treated water W, an irradiation quantity determination means for determining the irradiation quantity of ultraviolet rays for irradiating treated water W with ultraviolet rays on the basis of the flow rate measured by the flowmeter 22a and an irradiation means for irradiating the treated water W with ultraviolet rays in the irradiation quantity determined by the irradiation quantity determination means, and a chlorine injection device for disinfecting treated water W by the injection of chlorine.
