<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a sheet-like recording material from being bent when conveyed. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 conveys a sheet 24 along a mountain-fold conveyance path and a valley-fold conveyance path in which the direction of a bend in the conveyance direction of the sheet 24 which is caused by the adjustment of the timing of the conveyance of the sheet 24 through resist roller 40 is a mountain-fold direction and a valley-fold direction, respectively, with respect to an image forming surface. In a conveyance path selecting section 54, a conveyance path for the sheet 24 is selected based upon predetermined information about a direction in which the sheet is easily bent or is not easily bent.
