PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the oxidation stability and thermal stability of a lubricating oil based on a mineral oil having a high sulfur content, which has such shortcomings that it has low oxidation stability and thermal stability although it is relatively low-cost and has high supply stability, to thereby realize its use for a long time and give a lubricating oil with a prolonged time until drainage. SOLUTION: The lubricating oil composition is based on a mineral oil having a sulfur content of at least 200 ppm by mass, and contains a component (A) comprising a specified organomolybdenum compound, such as sulfurized oxymolybdenum dithiocarbamate or sulfurized oxymolybdenum dithiophosphate, in an amount of 20-500 ppm by mass in terms of molybdenum, and a component (B) comprising an antioxidant.
