PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanical key, in which portability is improved while an appearance and quality can be enhanced, and a portable machine in which the mechanical key is housed. SOLUTION: The portable machine 1 has the mechanical key 20 for an emergency. When the mechanical key 20 is housed, the mechanical key 20 is housed in a mechanical-key housing section 13 in a holding form that the axis of a grip section 22 and the axis of a keep plate 21 are arranged on a straight line. A moderation machanism composed of an engaging projecting section formed at the end section of the key plate 21 and an engaging recessed section formed to the inwall of the holding groove of the grip section 22 is installed to the mechanical key 20.
