PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abrasive wheel and a grinding method, by which stable grinding always is carried out keeping grinding conditions good for various grinding materials, and the long life of the abrasive wheel and the low cost supply of ground products are achieved. SOLUTION: The abrasive 1 is composed of a base plate 2 for the abrasive wheel having a supply port of grinding fluid, and at least one abrasive tip 3 arranged on the base plate. In the grinding surface side of the base plate of the abrasive wheel, the ratio of a projected area of the part, on which the abrasive tip does not exists, to the whole projected area of the grinding surface side is within the range of 2-10 % with reference to the initial area of the life of the abrasive wheel.
