PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inclining device for a backrest or the like in a chair which has simple structure, and can support a wide seat stably. SOLUTION: The front end parts of a pair of left and right backrest support rods 12 for supporting the backrest 7 are pivotally attached to a support base 5 through the use of a shaft 11 to be turned in left and right. The backrest support rods 12 are energized in the erecting direction of the backrest 7. The respective upper ends of upward seat support pieces 15 arranged in the near-back parts of each spindle in the both backrest support rods 12, and the upper ends of a pair of left and right support links 19 which are directed upward and pivotally attached to the front part of the support base 5 through the use of a shaft 22 in a left and right direction, are pivotally attached to the rear and front parts of a pair of left and right seat support rods 16 in a front and rear direction to support the seat 8, through the use of respective shafts 17, 20 directed in the front and rear direction. Thus, the seat 8 is supported so as to be moved backward and downward linked with the backward inclination of the backrest 7. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
