The invention relates to a medicament for the treatment of dependent craving , characterised in that the medicament comprises a combination of two dosage forms, whereby the one dosage form continuously releases at least one nicotinic receptor modulator and the other dosage form permits a rapid presentation of galanthamine into the central nervous system and a two-stage method for the therapy of substance craving by modulation of neuronal nicotinic receptors, in which a permanent treatment by means of a pharmaceutical dosage form which continuously releases a nicotinic receptor modulator on occurrence of strong substance craving, is supplemented by the administration of galanthamine or one of the pharmacologically acceptable salts thereof, which permits a rapid presentation of said modulator into the central nervous system.
