<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the cost required for constructing a system or increasing a subscriber side terminal by decreasing the number of optical transmitters on the side of a center device which is conventionally increased with increase in the number of subscribers in an optical coaxial hybrid type two-way CATV system. <P>SOLUTION: In the two-way CATV system provided with a plurality of bilateral amplifiers on a coaxial cable from the center device to the subscriber side terminal, each bilateral amplifier is equipped with a down amplification unit 20 for amplifying and outputting to the terminal side a down electric signal transmitted from the center device side, and selectively mounts any one of an up amplification unit 40 for amplifying and outputting to the coaxial cable on the center device side an up electric signal transmitted from the terminal side and an optical transmission unit 30 for amplifying the up electric signal transmitted from the terminal side, converting the signal into an up optical signal and outputting the up optical signal to an optical cable connected to an optical receiver on the center device side. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
