<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease a scale of a circuit and a memory in a video image reading apparatus for identifying kind or the like of a recording medium. <P>SOLUTION: The video image reading apparatus is characterized by constituting a CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) sensor part 201 for reading a video image on the surface of the recording medium and performing photoelectric conversion, an A/D convertor 208 for converting video image information read by this sensor part 201 into digital values, an arithmetic part 219 for operating a parameter related to smoothing characteristics for identifying the kind of the recording medium based on the video image information converted into the digital values by this A/D convertor 208, and an outputting interface circuit 209 for outputting the result of operation of this arithmetic part 219, of monolithic semiconductor devices. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
