摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a matrix for a microlens and a microlens array showing a high efficiency of light utilization. SOLUTION: This method for manufacturing the matrix for the microlens array comprises a cutting process and a heating process. The cutting process forms array-like protuberances 2a by cutting the surface of a substrate 1a of a heat-deforming resin material in the X and Y directions with a cutting bit 5 by a shaping machine. In this case, projection pieces 3a for preventing the resin from thermally deforming and flowing, are simultaneously formed at the cut parts on the periphery of the protuberances 2a in cutting the substrate 1a with the cutting bit 5 by the shaping machine. In the heating process, the matrix is manufactured by forming the surfaces of the protuberances 2a spherically by an action of heat deformation and surface tension of the resin through heating the resin material at higher than a heat deformation temperature(e.g. 49°C) after the sapercutting.
