PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a quantification error in performing high-speed driving without enhancing the resolution. SOLUTION: In controlling a motor in an apparatus for driving a mechanism by using a motor 102 as a power source, the device is provided with: an encoder 101 for outputting a detection signal in accordance with movement for a specified distance of the mechanism; a cycle detecting part 105 and a counter part for outputting information on the cycle of the detection signal by a digital value; and a servo control part 110 and a motor driver part 111 for calculating the speed information of the mechanism on the basis of the prescribed distance and the digital value and controlling the driving of the mechanism on the basis of the speed information. The counter part has a first counter 1 corresponding to one cycle, a second counter corresponding to two consecutive cycles, and two latches 108 and 109 for holding the output of each counter.
