PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for regenerating a metallic mold for casting with which the consumption of green sand is reduced as much as possible and the management of molding sand is very easy. SOLUTION: This method is characterized in that it includes: a process for taking out a cast material from the metallic mold after casting the cast material by using the metallic mold having a coating layer on a gas hardening molding sand on a product cavity surface and a gas venting mechanism; a process for performing the regenerating treatment of the exfoliated coating layer by exfoliating the coating layer from the metallic mold, into the gas-hardening molding sand; and a process for forming the coating layer of the gas hardening molding sand in the product cavity by using the regenerated gas hardening molding sand.
