TAILORED BLANK WITH ABUTTING PLATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum alloy tailored blank for preventing any press cracks with a starting point thereof at a joined part or a part in the vicinity thereof. SOLUTION: A tailored blank 1 for pressing comprises a main plate 2 of aluminum alloy and a sub plate 3 of aluminum alloy joined each other while at least one of the material and the thickness of the sub plate is different from that of the main plate 2. The main plate 2 and the sub plate 3 are butt-joined with each other, and at least one of outer surfaces of a butted portion is covered by an abutting plate 4 formed of aluminum alloy. A joined portion 10 and the abutting plate 4 are integrally joined with each other by the friction stirring and joining. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
