PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent chattering at starting and prevent a vane from being pushed against the inner periphery face of a cylinder for an unnecessarily long time by closing a valve connected to a recessed portion of a rear side block without a delay after starting rotation. SOLUTION: The valve 70 having a ball 72 and a spring 73 for energizing it to be separated from a seated portion 75 is provided on the rear side block 30. A passage hole 76 open to the seated portion is communicated with the recessed portion 35 ranging to a back pressure chamber of the vane, and a gas flow path 78 is provided on the same rear side block, which has one end open to the upstream side of a ball storage chamber 74 beyond the position of the ball 72 in an opened condition and the other end open right before a discharge port of a compression chamber of the cylinder 40. A high pressure cooling medium compressed by the compression chamber is supplied directly to the valve 70 without bypassing outside the cylinder, and so the valve is closed quickly to prevent the vane from being pushed against the inner periphery face of the cylinder at an unnecessarily high pressure.
