<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device and a method of manufacturing the same in which a clear and colorless conductor can be formed allowing the transmission of light from a visible region to an ultraviolet region, the conductor is used as a substrate to form a vertical structure, and uses the substrate side as a surface for emitting light. <P>SOLUTION: In a high temperature furnace in a controlled atmosphere, a substrate is fabricated by a slit die 8 and a crucible 6 according to EFG method for growing a single crystal shaped like the upper surface of the slit die 8 in cross section. The slit 8 has a slit 8a, in which molten raw material 9 ascends to the upper surface due to a capillary phenomenon. The crucible 6 stores the slit die 8 and the molten raw material 9. A thin film made of one or both of a III-V group material and a II-VI group material is formed on the substrate according to MOCVD method. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
