PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight driving apparatus which can stop an inverter even when arc discharge occurs. SOLUTION: In the backlight driving apparatus of a liquid crystal display, two transformers are formed between a driving part and two lamps so as to respond to the respective two lamps so that the driving signal from the driving part is supplied through the transformers to the lamps. Since the secondary terminals of the two transformers are connected to each other and the load connected to the two transformers is symmetric, the connecting point of the two transformers acts as a neutral point. When arc occurs due to cut lines in the transformers or the like, the neutral point of the transformers shifts because of the load in a portion where the arc occurs, and this increases the voltage at the connecting point. If the divided voltage of the voltage at the connecting point increases to or over the reference level, the driving part is stopped. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
